York Food Tour

York Tour

3.5 hours    £65 pp

Taste your way around the centre of York. We will take you on a culinary and cultural adventure stopping at five of the city’s independents.

York's Culinary Relationship with the World

A fantastic walk around the city centre of York, enjoying stories about its long history.  We will visit five great independent eateries, all serving delicious food with great passion.  Food that is all sourced locally and with influences from around the world and each carefully chosen tasting makes up part of the city's vibrant food and drink scene.  With a knowledgeable guide and the company of other foodies, you and your taste buds will not only thoroughly enjoy yourself but you'll be supporting these local independents too.

For those of you wanting specific Yorkshire specialities, this isn't what we taste.  We are experiencing a range of cuisines to give you a whole range of flavours and experiences.

What to expect

Your tour guide will greet you outside the York Art Gallery by the statue.  For our tours, please arrive for a prompt start at  12.00 midday.

Contact  us for availability on other days for small groups.

Please dress for the weather – layers are best and wear suitable footwear for a gentle stroll.

We will be walking around the city centre and will end on Castlegate. We walk a little less than a mile in total.  It is all flat although some of the streets are cobbled. There are minimal stairs at all our tastings although some have restrooms which are accessed by stairs.

We do recommend having a very small breakfast – you want to save yourself for some delicious tastings!

It is a food tour and as our visitors have shown us, not everyone shares the same thirst!  Our tour has one drink included at the the penultimate stop but there are opportunities to buy your own to accompany your tasting.

We are meeting outside the York Art Gallery by the statue.  It is a ten minute walk from the station.  Walk towards the Minster and turn left at the main traffic lights before the Minster, the Art Gallery is about 150 m up on the left.
